Jogada Siri Belakinalli…nityOtsava tAye nityOtsava ninage nityOtsava…I believe each and every Kannadiga would have listened to this song penned by Nisaar Ahmed and background scores by Mysore Ananthaswamy. Cinematography of these lines involved namma Kannadambe, Prakruthi and Aranaya pradeshagalu of Karnataka, telecasted through Doordarshan, now known as Chandana. During my school days, I made my mind to visit this place after watching the telecast of this song. School days dream fulfilled after 2.5 years of professional life in Dec’07. My cousin and I planned to visit Kodachadri after completing our personal work in Kadur. Our lunch had couple of chapathis and a bowl of curd rice garnished with onions and dryfurits. Extension in personal work resulted to miss Karnataka Sarige from Kadur to Kollur. We had listed out places to travel and finally decided to spend an evening at Chickmagalur and to catch an early morning bus to reach Joga. Our plan didn’t go invain, but nature interms of weather and water flow was not in our favor. An Auto Driver guided us to see places cinematographed in Mungarumale movie and power station for Rs.100. While coming back to Bangalore, both of us decided to revisit the place in monsoon.
Joga Jalapatha in Dec’07

Joga revisited during the start of monsoon madness in 2009 along with my cousin and couple of other friends. Our start from Bengaluru was delayed due to Upakarama rituals of one of my friend, but delay in timings was in our probable list. To me more precise…it was not unknown to us. To recharge ourselves, we had caffeine from CafĂ© Coffee Day and Tender Coconuts. Post sunset, we reached the destination. Thanks to Mr. Shanbagh, Supervisor of Hotel Mayura for providing us a cottage with a fantastic view of Raja, Roarer, Rocket and Rani from a gallery. Nature was in our favor which helped us to forgive our tiredness. I still feel the noise of the flow from 829feet. We were in the middle of night walk…but my friends were not interested for further night walk or a drive in a car after an enquiry from Mr.Khaki.
Day 2 started with a mixed weather of downpour plus sunshine…It was very hard to see the presence of surya bhagwan. Our first visit was to Joga Power station…post breakfast spent sometime at Jog view point. We really tested our Canon PowerShot A70. Result out of it…No words to explain…

Joga Jalapatha in Aug’09

Post lunch, stepped downwards to see landing of River Sharvathi. We were blessed to enjoy the rainbow. Weather forced us drive out of the cottage towards Joga-Honnavara ghat section. A sudden thought striked our mind to spend the entire night at Honnavara beach. However by looking at Buses and Lorries loaded with mines, we decided not to take risk in terms of driving.

Rainbow at Ground Level

Our journey on Day 3 was towards the Linganmakki corridor to reach other side of Joga, part of Karwar District. View Point is a part of Shimoga District. I correlate Joga with Niagara, because Niagara is a part of both United States and Canadian region. Experience with Raja, Roarer, Rocket and Rani was memorable. For a second time, journey continued towards Joga-Honnavara ghat section to feel the silence…”The Silent Valley”.
I clicked this photograph while heading towards Raja, Roarer, Rocket and Rani ...to video the gigantic flow...

One of the best work "Behind the Lens"..."Sharavathi Valley"...

Once we returned from Silent Valley, we were left out with a day and a half. Due to time constraint and lack of information on places like OM beach, Yana, Sirsi Marikamba Temple made us stay at Krishna Rajendra Hill Station, Kemmangundi followed by next day journey in Bhadra Wildlife to reach Datta Peeta, Manikyadhara and Mullyangiri Betta. Due to batteries down, our work behind the lens was shutdown at Mullayangiru Betta. I was able to make out drastic changes in terms of population and pollution compared to my previous visits.
